I have brake and abs warning lights on in my dash, anyone have any ideas? I think the speed sensor or wire may have been damaged in the past weeks axle shaft replacement. Are these hard to replace, and how sensitive are they. If anyone has any input, please post it, I need all the help I can get, the shop charges $75 to put it on the scanner, then hourly on top of that, and internet is cheap. HELP!!!

What is the "air-gap" between the sensor and the tone wheel ( toothed wheel) that spins?

Also is it loaded with mud, grease and other goop?

Was the tone wheel reseated completely on the short shaft?

If a shop did your axle shaft replacement, they would likely diagnose this at no charge, unless it was damaged subsequently to the axle shaft change. .

I can look in the FSM for the proper test procedure, if you are still stuck.

On replacement, it simply bolts to the rear of the backing plate. I ran to the garage for ya! Mine has between . 010 and . 020 air gap (eyeballing)

They are likely pricey although, I have never changed one.

How did you go about checking that clearance, I cant see the toothed wheel without taking the assembly apart, and even then its questionable how to get a clearance reading with the axle shaft and bearing on there.

thanks, nick
