Have 2001 ram with 29,000 miles developed a loud squeek when turning the wheel can feel it in the tierod when turning the wheel my guess ball joints or tie rod . Wife drove it the other day and thought it was wandering could this all be related. Also hving transfer case leak fixed where rear out put comes out Dealer said it was from towing This all should be under warranty. Was also wondering if it is the drag link that is in other posts ,if so is it cvered by warranty? Thanks in advance.

My 2001 has a three year/36,000 mile warranty on everything but the engine so I'm assuming yours should be the same. You are probably correct in your diagnosis of the ball joints/tierod. The TDR posts seem to indicate that there are quite a few of the 2001's with this problem. The lower ball joints are greaseless while the uppers can be greased. Apparently many of the TDR members have stated that their upper ball joints were not greased at the factory, mine were not. This may be one of the contributing factors of early failure, especially if you don't catch it at a low mileage.

In regards to your transfer case leak, I had the exact same leak and I haven't towed anything yet. If you do a search I think you will find that this is also a semi-common problem.

I will say that I have had no problems, (knock on wood), with the warranty work done by my dealer. I've taken my truck in three times for warranty work, (coolant leak, transfer case leak, vacuum pump leak), and all the problems were fixed promptly and courteously with no recurring problem. Just thought I would give credit where it is due.

Good Luck,

Bill
