I ran into the same thing today. I was trying to find info on air conditioner problems and solutions. So I used A/C in one search and air conditioner in another search. Beings A/C and air do not have four letters, I ended up with the same results as you did.

For three letter words like "nut", put the asterisk '*' wildcard character immediately after the third letter (e. g. , "nut*"). For me, it works like a champ.
