fs2500filter kit on a 2005 ?

Does anyone have one of these on a 05 or 06 I have a 06 and my dad has a 05 and when you change the oil it is black 5 min later that drives my dad nuts he changes his oil at 100 to 120 hour and I am the same way. But what gets us is that we have a 1992 tractor that is turning 125 hp with 7800 hrs on it and it stays clean all the way to about 90 to 95 hours depends on how hard we pull it. This kit clams to stop this does any one here that is not with the company prove that it works I would love to here some thoughts on this Thanks for reading

SSwords. . I have one installed on a 2006. I had the same results that you have. There is no way it cleans my oil. I called theMFG. and he explained that the Late 3 gen cumings made much smaller soot particles than other diesels. Therefore the oil still gets black even though your oil is actually getting filtered. They are currently working on a filter media that will filter the oil . 07 micron. Yep that is correct . 07. That will clear the oil up for sure. It has been a couple of months since I called them. They were very nice and helpful. When I called he even guessed that I had a near new Dodge before

I told him so I am sure that I am not the first caller on this issue. I have run oil samples at 15K and all came back A+. I am working on 20K now. All with the FS2500. Hope this helps.

My understanding is that the soot (black color) is sub-micronic, in size, & isn't really that much of an issue other than discoloration of the oil. Eventually, the soot can agglomerate (clump-up into a mass) & then it can become a problem (clogging up filters, etc. ). But, that would take an enormous amount of soot.



I wouldn't worry about the black coloration. I don't believe it is as bad a problem, as it looks.

I have a 05 ram 2500 with the fs2500 and also have black oil. I asked there reps, about it, they also asked if I had a newer dodge. they said the particels where to small to filter and if there that small they will not hurt the engine. my oil dose not get as smelly or thick like it did before.

Soot is something near 1/100th of a micron... Even their "new" . 07 micron filter isn't going to cut it...

100 hrs at 40 mph is only 4,000 miles between oil changes. Too soon IMHO.
My oil is BLACK that quick too, even with the bypass system. Changing both filters and oil, and it's still black immediately. Nothing will filter out the soot less than 1 micron, not even the FS2500. Now on the positive side, the bypass systems do filter out the most wear causing particles(those between 3 and 7 microns in size)

I have an fs2500 mine is black too. I'm sure it's not a problem these engines will go longer than the truck will. the only reason i got mine was to extend my oil changes. I would stop stressing about it if your oil tests come back A+ great, people with $500000 trust those tests. besides black is not bad. I was also wondering if soot is known as an abrasive anyway. I used carbon or soot to lube the axles on my soap box derby car.
