 :( Ok. . so i was cleaning the dash gauge cluster {took plastic off and was cleaning the dust out}. . and bumped the fuel gauge needle a little too hard. . not bad, but just enough to make it read 1/4 tank when it's full and go to Empty from there. Has anyone done that and fixed one. . or had it fixed?Or do I need to go buy a whole new gauge cluster . .

Cleaning the cluster with the plastic off? OK.

The needle is just a friction fit on a pin that sticks out of the gauge. Fill up the tank, gently push the needle over to full and you're good to go.

...

That's a good theory, but i tryed it, and there was resistance against my finger pushing back from the needle so it didn't want to stay at full when it was full. Reason I cleaned it with the plastic off, was there was all kinds of dust in the bezel. . and cig ash or something.

Can you pull the needle off and reinstall? When I did a gauge overlay I pulled all the needles off and put the overlay on and reinstalled all the needles. No problems.

Pry it off gently have the tank full, start the engine, and place the needle on at full.

Hopefully this will help.

another breakable item that's easyly fixed is the pin that the pointer rests on, like on my truck the tach would almost point straight down when off, i just heated a needle and stuck it in where the orignal pin was. and for some reason the trip reset button was missing, i made a new one from a piece of plastic rod a bench grinder and a drill, if you cut a step in it where it pokes through the clear plastic it will be held in place
