The MSDS for the Stanadyne lubricity formula indicates that it is basically Naphtha. How can this produce any real lubricity improvement when mixed at the recommended rate of 480:1? I can't understand how this could produce any tangible benefit. Just how does this work?

Thanks!

Standard MSDS don't list any components the mfg. considers proprietary, so there is some stuff in there that isn't listed. There are proprietary MSDS’s (list of all ingredients) but those are only available to Poisson control centers and other regulatory agencies. To publicly release info, on the proprietary MSDS is against the law.

The Naptha is the diluent or carrier that allows this product to mix with diesel fuel. The additive then is able to work at the recommended rate of delution.

Every MSDS I've seen that contains a proprietary material is listed as such. The MSDS for the Stanadyne does not list a proprietary ingredient. It’s my understanding that the MSDS is legally required to list all the ingredients. If the composition includes a proprietary material, instructions must be given so a physician can contact the manufacturer to determine appropriate treatment for exposure.

Medical treatment instructions are given further down on MSDS. Proprietary Ingredients need not be specifically listed on most lurication products- the EPA (?), numbered, diamond label is there to prove lack of severe hazerdous materials. Emergency phone #'s are also required and listed for treatment, if needed.
