fuel additives again

my 03 cummins pinged on the first trip out. at first I didn't realize

what the noise was. has anyoe else heard the pinging in your

03? I didnt know a diesel engine could or would ping, until I

got my 03. my brother also has an 03 3500 srw, and he said

his pinged too. well I had a can of amzoil cetane boost that I had

won in drawing at maymaddness 2 years ago. so I poured a

little in both my fuel tanks and what do you know, it stopped

the pinging. I told my brother what I did so he bought a can

of power service with cetane boost and added some in his tank,

and it stopped pinging also.

so I am a firm believer in a cetane boost additive at least.

I guess the fuel I use isn't quite good enough quality.

I'm a happy camper now!

How the heck does diesel "ping"?? Did you put gasoline in the tank by accident or what??!!

no I did not put gasoline in the tank. that's my story and I'm

sticking to it. I didn't think a diesel would ping either.
