does any one else have trouble filling there fuel tank at truck stops . i have a 96 2500 ext,cab 8 ft bed . when i try to fill my tank with the big nozzle the big trucks use it shuts off almost immediatly and i have to nurse it to fill it at less than the lowest nozle lock speed or go to the car filling spout

Our experiences are similar, sometimes I even have a hard time keeping the small nozzle flowing (something wrong with the nozzle, I think).

I'd check the hose that connects the fillneck to tank, maybe it's got a kink in it. I can use the big nozzles at full flow, so hopefully it's an easy fix. BTW, Powerstrokes don't have a fillerneck that can easily take the big rig nozzles.

No problem here. Ditto on looking for the kinked hoses.

We all have a ball in the filler that in the event of an overturn, will prevent a fuel spill. It hampers fuel filling at the big pumps. When I had my tank dropped to do the sender, I removed the ball and it shuts off the pump no more. Now I fill up with the big boys. I think it kinda upsets them.

Do not have a problem here.

No problem here on the 1st or 2nd click but after that it's touchy. Normally I like to fill it slow for less foam and time to admire the Freightliner, KW or Peter in the next row.

I know some of the T stops around here fill FAST. My route truck has one 40gal and one 25 gal tank, Once i start the pump in the 25 gal and go to the other side and start on the 40 the 25 gal kicks off. Can put in 65 gallons quicker than i can fill my Cummins at the car pump

One thing I tried that seemed to speed it up at the t-stops was to hold the nozzle at a different angle. Instead of sticking it in and letting it rest on its own weight, I stuck it in as far as it would go and picked up on the handle to change the angle of the nozzle down in the neck and I was able to fill up much faster with the big nozzle that the t-stops have.

Chris gave the answer. I removed my Ram's check ball and plastic cage 4 years ago when I silver soldered a fitting to the fill pipe for my auxiliary tank. I usually use the middle setting at the truck pumps to give me enough time to walk around the truck before it is full #ad

No problems with mine, I have use both.

Have had no problems using the big nozzles - except for the foaming. You get a lot more because of the rate of flow (30 -40 gal/minute) and have to nurse it to really top off the tank. The foam will also kick off the flow. It's also a trick to stop the $$$$ meter on a nickle or dime amount. A real advantage in using the truck islands is the window cleaner with the long handle.

BTW, (first hand info from a trucker friend who works for Lindeman)
when the 'Big Rig' guys see us with our 5. 9L Cummins Diesels at Truck Stop Fuel Station, they chuckle: "There's another &^*% 'peanut diesel!'

I've had truckers at fuel stops and rest areas come over and want to check out my truck. Many of them have said that they'd get a Cummins Ram if they had time to drive anything other than their big rigs. Most common question,"is it OK to let it idle overnite?"

Peanut diesel, hmmmffff.
Some of us, such as the Scourges, have more horsepower than their semi's. For example, Sickly's 510. 7 hp at the wheels on Diesel #2 correlates to 638 hp at the flywheel if we believe Cummins' and DC's claim that the drivetrain robs 20% of the hp. The top-of-the-line Signature 600 Cummins is rated at 600 flywheel hp.
The may outweigh and outsize us #ad

They DON'T outpower us #ad

I agree with vc. Otherwise no problem, I have read where the durmax won't accept the larger nozzels. Seems stupid that these Brand X trucks don't have the ability to accept the larger nozzels.

My Mule takes the big nozzle no problem. I've seen truckers laugh at when a friend pulled up in a 82 Chevette Diesel but not my Dodge. He could get the big nozzle in don't know if they were made this way or if he modified it.

No problem, I use the Phoenix Fuel Service at a local distributer. I get to fuel up along side dumptrucks, fire apparatus, and eighteen wheelers. Takes a few minutes even when topping it off. Know a guy at work who tried to do the same thing with his PowerStroke, and he just couldn't cut the Mustard.

Lovin' every mile.
