Fuel Filter 1999 Dodge 24 val. turbo diesel

Need help changing fuel filter. Does it self prime after changing fuel filter when you turn switch to start position then off ?

It should you may have to do it a few times to fill the filter canister tho. ( ps. Like your last name. )

 

[Boost]

You have to bump the starter without starting the engine. This allows the lift pump to run longer and fill the filter housing. i usually end up bumping the starter 2-3 times before the engine starts. Hope this helps.

changing fuel filter on 24 valve diesel

Thanks so much. As you guys can tell we are new to diesels. Love our truck so far. Just wanted to be sure we had it right... . manuel addressed taking water off fuel filter only not changing it so just wanted verification... You guys sure are fast on the reply it is appreciated. WE get about 15. 5 to 16 in the city on fuel and 17. 5 to 18. 5 on highway. Have a 26 ft trailer weight is 5,500 lbs and have never towed it with this truck . Any guesses on fuel on a long trip? Heard about 14 from another diesel owner? Thanks again. L. Lancaster
