Yesterday I tried to order the Mopar secondary fuel filter 6808382AA - this is the fuel filter that goes near the fuel tank. They tell me that there are 754 of these on backorder.

Any idea who to contact at Chrysler to see how long it will take to get these in stock?

Do you think Chrysler will allow this filter to be manufactured by the after market?

If this gets really bad is there a different filter head that is similar to the Mopar unit that can be substituted with the same filter and heated filter head attributes?

thoughts?

Please specify which SDFK kit you have and wheteh you use it for final fuel filtration or water/fuel separation.…if your kit uses the 1" 14tpi threads, (older style SDFK) then there are other filters available that will cross reference.

I have the newer kit 68083853ab. I have not been able to find a cross reference filter. The 68083826aa must still be proprietary to FCA.

There are none in the pipeline so that does not look good. However there are 50 in stock at dealers around the country, so depending on how bad you need one you should be able to get it.

hmmmm, sorry to say that you may well be SOL for an alternative filter for that kit….looks like a ******* filter inlet thread size that NO one makes or carries anymore.

That being said, Amazon sells one through an indeopendncet reseller, but at $100 per you might want to look into changing from that filter head to another that hjas the more common 1"-14tpi threads on it cuz then you can use the Donaldson P551313 that sells for $15.95 delivered.

Here is the $100 filter that you need--

And here is the $16 Donaldosn that you could fit if you get and install another filter head.

Thankfully the older style Mopar SDFK that I installed on my 2005 truck has the 1-14 Fleetgurd filter head !!! Unfortunately, you cannot get those kits anymore.

My local dealership did not even look outside his parts department for the filter. I like to have good working relationships with local businesses but the local Dodge dealer is making it tough..... I will be ok for awhile but I like keeping a spare with me in case of emergency.

Seafish, thanks for your research. I will start looking for a filter that has a WIF sensor and a different filter head with the 1-14 thread.

If you want to try purchasing from a stocking dealer let me know and I will give you a couple of phone numbers. Several had two in stock so they may be willing to let one go.
