I installed 1/2" fuel line from tank (intank pump) to fuel filter cannister. But, oem line was not connected directly to filter cannister. It was connected to some device (looked like a regulator) near filter cannister. So, I removed Bango fitting and installed 90 degree 1/2" an fitting with 1/2" line attached and just bypassed yhis device, whatever it is. Cranked right up, runs great. Holds 13lb psi at idle and 12 psi at 65 mph, empty. Recovers a lot faster than before after hard acceleration or putting load on engine. Anyone know what this thing I bypassed is??

I'm wondering if it might a regulator. I've been looking at the dealer in tank pump kits when I have a minute to see if there is a regulator included.

The in-tank pump included with the kit may be borrowed from another model and Mother Mopar felt it needed to be regulated for Diesel applications??? Just a theory.

Maybe sag2 or Bob 4X4 will chime in later about the kit.

Thanks so much. Actually, my pressure went up 1 psi, from 12 to 13 at idle . Have about 90k miles on intank pump and doing fine. Recovers rapidly now, compared to before.

Right. My pressure reading is taken from auto meter manual gauge , plumbed into line at VP 44. Should be pretty accurate. Wonder how this setup will work pulli g a 10k fifth wheel? Haven't had chance to pull load with truck yet.

There is no external regulator included with the in tank pump retro fit kit. There is an aluminum block that allows the existing plumping to be used where the old pump was mounted.

I saw that block in the kit illustrations that I found yesterday but couldn't tell if there was a regulator in it.

Now I wonder if something plugged it.

If it were me the curiosity alone would force me to remove it from the engine block so I could see inside. Hunk of rubber or something similar could be in there.

Can you take a picture of what you're looking at and post it? There is no regulator but I'm not understanding why the fuel line was going to it if you have the in-tank pump. Are you positive of the fuel pump arrangement?

Also, connecting your fuel pressure gauge directly to the VP will prove to be a problem in time. The hydrodynamic fuel pulses generated in the VP travel back out into the fuel system and will wreak havoc with electric fuel pressure gauge senders and mechanical fuel pressure gauge internals. Eventually they'll either read incorrectly and/or fail. The optimal location is as far from the VP as possible but remaining on the post side of the fuel filter and using at least one snubber before the sender or gauge. :)

I have a 'snubber' connected to a 20" flex line that is connected to the vp44. Won't this be ok? I'm 77 yrs old so will prob outlast me. Yes, I'm sure the fuel pump setup is correct. I simply ran the 1/2" line from tank to fuel filter cannister. Works great! Even got a bump from 12 psi to 13 psi (at idle) recovers fast from acceleration back to idle pressure of 13lbs

It may last, it may not. I've seen senders last for a few years and I've heard of them failing on people in little time. All we know is that the pulses are the damaging culprit. Is your snubber dedicated or adjustable? I'm not a fan of the adjustable ones.

The reason you saw an increase in fuel pressure and lack of pressure drop throughout throttle is because of the added volume of fuel in the line and the reduction in fuel flow with the new fitting. Changing the line from the canister to the VP and replacing all banjo fittings with JIC is best, but if you're happy with the results then thats all that matters. :)

Evidently I wasn't very clear in original post.
First, I installed a 'Vulcan big line kit' with 1/2 inch hose and proper fittings and discarded oem Bango fittings. Then, after a month or so, I installed 1/2" hose from quick connect fitting on top of tank to fuel filter cannister, using proper fittings purchased from Eric at Vilcan Performance. This gave me aSlight boost in pressure ( 13 lb at idle) my goal was to insure increased volume to vp44, an hope to retain same pressure. It seems I have done this and even increased pressure somewhat . I was really delighted to see the rapid recovery from acceleration.
