Every time I change fuel filter I have a leak. After a few tries it stops.Shop manual SAYS USE 30#OIL ON O RING.I THINK THE PLASTIC FUE FILTER CAP IS N.G. I GOT NEW CAP AND IT SAID,TREAD SEALANT MUST BE APPLIED TO THE TREADS BEFORE INSTALLING THIS PART.WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?

Never had a Problem with this, always use a new O-Ring and I use just Diesel to "grease" it.

Exactly the same here.
And I would not put anything on the threads that may get into the fuel system and it doesn't need it anyway.
Could it be the drain that keeps dripping for a while?

Scott

Also be careful not to over tighten it........it only needs to compress the oring, not a tapered thread that gets tighter the more you tighten
