Bigger injectors for a JD 4020

I hate to bring this up on the TDRweb site but here goes. My friend has asked me to try and change his fuel filter on his 02 duromax 6. 6 Is there any thing I need to know about the filter change, I can see a wire running from the filter to a wiring harness and it look's pretty strait forward as for as a filter change any help short of asking him to buy a dodge would be appreciated Thanks Don

Just as easy as it looks. Unplug the wire, remove filter, remove sensor from old filter and put it on the new filter and install. Loosen bleeder screw on the top of the filter housing and pump the primer until fuel comes out, tighten the bleeder screw, pump the primer a few more times and it will start right up. One thing to watch, make sure that the oring is in the groove on the fuel filter before you tighten it up.

And try to talk him into buying the HOT Juice box from Edge, he will fly.

ez-juice box

Peter, Thanks for the insight on the filter change, funny you should say something about the ez-box, he want's one and he tow's thirty percent of the time (7000LBS) or less. He has an auto so in your opinion do you think he can get by without egt and boost gauge, I can install the box but the guage's are out of my things of do able Thank's Don

100% correct on the filter instruction. Old style strap filter wrench works the best. Make sure the "new" O ring is seated correctly like previously posted, dont re-use the old one!!

And I would not recommend towing with the EZ without boost and EGT guage.

I think guages are a good idea too, or just turn the box down a bit when towing, no higher than 2 on the regular juice or 1 on Hot Juice. But still risky.

Peter, Is it necessary to drain the filter before removing it? Can you put a one gallon baggie around it like I do on my oil filter on my truck, Thank's Don

It is not necessary, but... ... . I have changed it two times, once, never spilled a drop, but last time dropped the filter and ended up with a nice mess. I like the freezer bag idea!

Guy's, Changed my friends' filter tonight, 2hrs&45min. Not great time but I had to go to auto-zone and buy a strap wrench, I have five filter wrench'es and not one worked so now I have six, it took a few try's to get the filter started but I got through that, two question's, did your water sensor have lot's of brown dirt in it, it was so full that it would not drain through the petcock and how tight did you tighten the filter? I ran it up as tight as I could with my hand, did you use the filter wrench to tighten your's up. Thank's Don

I've only changed mine once, it was at 7000 miles and it was still pretty clean. I got worried when I heard about dirty fuel and injector problems. I've got 16,000 on it now and I'm gonna wait until I've got about 20,000 miles until I change it again. I just tightened mine hand tight, don't know if I would do much more, threads being plastic and all.

I'm not putting the miles on this thing like I though I would, just not my style I guess.
