This was the first time I changed my fuel filter on my 05. I changed the fuel filter many times on my old 2001 without incident. Everything went fine with the 05 until I went to restart the engine. I turned on the key to refill the fuel bowl and filter. I here this light ticking sound. Is this just the fuel pump running? Thats what I thought/assumed. I waited about 30 seconds and then started the truck; which started right up. I then took it for a spin; about 10 miles, and brought it back to the house. I shut the motor off and turned the key back on. THe light ticking is still there (you can only here the ticking if the hood is up). Is this normal and I just haven't noticed it before since the truck is so new and this is the first time I worked on it (i. e. I'm just being paranoid)? Or does something seem wrong? I used the same filter that I used on my 2001 (Fleetguard FS19579).

Thanks,

Byron

normal

That is a normal sound in my 03. It will eventually stop ticking if the key is left on. I have installed the fuel pressure gauge in my truck. When the key is turned on the pressure jumps to about 5psi and holds for a few seconds and then drops to 0psi. All the while the ticking continues.
