Filter Minder question

What is the best way to prime the engine after a fuel filter change? I changed my filter and now I can't get my truck to start. I've done the priming procedure in the manual a few times and still no start. Any ideas?

On the '07 you have to bump the starter, leave the ignition on, and wait 20 to 30 seconds for the pump to turn off. Repeat procedure 2 to 3 times. Start truck... ...

MDTyree, what year is your truck?

On my '04 with the stock (under hood) lift pump, I would turn the key on and you could hear the lift pump run a little and then shut off. I would do the key on / lift pump run / lift pump off cycle about 6 times and then crank to start.

Now, with the lift pump retro-fit (pump in tank), I still do the same cycles the same number of times but the lift pump doesn't cycle off - it just keeps running. So, I cycle the key on and let the lift pump run for a four-count and shut it off - do this 6 times and crank to start.

Make sure your fuel filter canister drain valve is closed (you'd know if it wasn't) and make sure the top of the filter canister is tight enough and that it's not just hand tight and bleeding pressure off the system.

i have never had trouble starting mine up after a filter change, but i did have one heck of a time starting it up after changing the liftpump from my dead oem to the walbro. . i guess i sucked my canister bone dry while trying to limp my truck off the road when it died
