02 Fuel filter.

My 95 Fuel Filter is like th oil filter,in that I unscrew the old filter, fill up the new filter change the O-rings install hand tight and a done deal.

I picked a new filter for my my friends stock 02 and the filter looks like the old oil filters that fit in a can.

Need help in changinfg the 02 Fuel Filter.

Rex McKinney 95 2500 stock and love it.

unscrew the top pull out the old filter change the oring around the top snap on new filter srew it back in bump the starter let the pump run till it stops then fire it up.

Use a wrench on the outside of the hex nut on the cover, not an Allen on the inside whole in the cover nut, it will break. SNOKING

the fuel filter on my 98 is the same. you need a pan under the truck then on the f/f housing twards the front of the truck there is a lever with a yellow piece on it pull it twords you until fluid stops draning then return to origional posisition then there is a wire plugged into the bottom of the housing which is the water in fuel sensor. unhook it then on top of the canister is a nut @ 18mm i think unscrew it and pull the canister down and remove it. then remove the old element and install the new o rings on the new element and center piece of the canister (small o ring on the piece that extends through the middle of the element) then reinstall new element into canister and fill with fuel. then reinstall in reverse sequence. turn key on and ck fuel pressure (hope you have a guage, if not you need to get ons asap) start truck may idle rough for a minute then clear up. hope this helps you Ken

The Fuel filter setup changed model year 2000. Follow the advice given by SNOKING & ASimpson. Once the cover is off, it's fairly intuitives. A TSB related to the fuel filter housing cover is shown at the great Dave Fritz site: http://dodgeram. info/tsb/2000/14-02-00.htm

One quick thing to make sure of when doing this. Make sure to pull up on the yellow lever after draining. I did not once and it was not seated right and leaked. Fuel milage sure got bad!!! Seemed to run okay but left to much along the road on the way to Flagstaff.

One thing that helps to get mine running again is to leave the fuel/water drain open and crack the supply line to the VP44. Bump the starter, close the fuel/water drain, tighten the VP44 supply line. Mine usually starts right up after doing this and I know that no two trucks are the same but it does help with mine.

I second the advice about using a wrench and not a 1/2in. extension the cap will crack. Mine did and I was not home I was in Red River NM and had to wait for the big brown truck to bring a new one.
