I helped a friend this morning by installing a Vulcan kit (believe it or not, he's seeing 19psi at idle from a stock pump now ... lucky bugger!). Once everything was tightened up and the engine running, we found a leak at the WIF drain valve. He has never opened it before today and now it's leaking from the top, where the lever enters the plastic housing. Is this rebuildable or does he need to purchase a new drain valve? If rebuildable; are the seals something that's available from Home Depot/local hardware store?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try opening and closing it again real quick.

Make sure the handle is flat against the housing. You might also have to tap the top of the drain to make sure it is down all the way.

I doubt it needs to be rebuilt. Happens to me after every filter change.

We opened and closed it several times and it still leaked, took it apart and it still leaked, tried to tighten it and it still leaked ... I'm thinking it needs new o-rings.

I had the same thing happen. I replaced the o-rings, and that lasted for a few months, then it started slowly leaking again.

I ordered a new one from Cummins, the part number on my invoise is 3926759-S, Kit, Drain Fleetguard $9. 22

Mine began to leak about 1 drop per second. Pulled it off and replaced 2 "O" rings. reinstalled and now it leaks worse. WTF!!! Pulled it off again, reinspected and can't understand why it still leaks. it's a very simple design. "O" rings are good, spring loaded lever is operating freely. I don't get it:mad::{. Some how the fuel is getting past the "O" ring. Maybe the plastic housing has become deformed??? It's only a 30. 00 part but this is really bugging me

Did you ever get the leak stopped?

If you did, what did you do?

I'm on my 3rd fuel filter water drain valve and just been told by the repair shop to replace the fuel filter canister itself. I didn't even ask them how much. Maybe I will ask how much today. I also can't handle the cost for the FASS system. Looking at options.

I have replaced mine twice and I hardly use it. They don't seem to be a very reliable part but, at least they are cheap, lol.

There was another O-ring that I missed.
