"Holy Batman" a friend says!... .

I could not believe it... I checked my oil today as well as the other fluids and drained the bottom off the fuel filter, low and behold the valve stuck and of course I didnt notice right away and drove about a 1 mile down the road, I did notice something was wrong when I stop at the stop sign and took off and the truck lagged behind, my fuel pressure gauge was blinking low so I pulled over at the nearest safe spot and shut her down. I get out of the truck and the smell of #2 had filled the air, my left front wheel well was drenched in #2 :{, The first thing that popped into my head?... was a ruptured line! I opened the hood and checked all fuel lines and connections as well as the fuel drain valve, the handle was down so had to be closed... right?

Thats a big fat NO! :(

After confirming there was no visible signs of a ruptured fuel line, I fired up the beast and low and behold the fuel flter drain line was spewing #2, I shut it down and cycled the valve up and down and side to side, started it back up and" Batta bing- Batta boom"!

The spewing had stopped! :D

Lesson learned...

Lesson 1 After draining the fuel filter, Ensure!, I repeat Ensure! the fuel drain valve has fully seated before leaving home.

Lesson 2 #2 Diesel fuel is the best cleaner on the market.

Lesson 3 If you have to have the wife come pick you up, just tell her to follow the rainbow road.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New year

My 2000 does it often. It is a lever action that lifts it up nicely but you have to push down hard with your thumb to get the plunger to go back down, at least on mine. BTW, 2002 has a whole new valve. It is not a plunger but a left right lever that WILL close each time.

If you will get some silicone grease(for O rings) or maybe Vasealine and smear it all over the shaft of the fuel filter drain and operate it several times it will not stick open anymore. Grease it every now and then.
