It's about time to change my fuel filter, and I don't really want to pay 26 bucks for one at the stealer. Isn't Fleetguard the filter Cummins uses? Is the quality the same?better? Where can I get one and what #. Oh yeah I just hit 200,000 !!

Thanks, Steve:cool:

Yes Fleetguard is what Cummins uses. Probably the same or better quality.

I pay $9 at the local Cummins or Caterpillar shops.

If I can remember correctly I think it is a Fleetguard FS1232. I'm sure someone will chime in if I'm wrong.

I was going to buy one here in Chicago and the dealer said it was special order and $32!

I personally use NAPA filters. I just bought a fuel and oil filter for my neighbors 92 D-250 this week. I don't have the part numbers by me, but can get them if you want. It was a total of $17 and some change for both of them. NAPA filters are made by WIX which is owned by DANA. That is the same DANA that made the axles under our trucks. I think they are good filters myself. And they are guaranteed not to fail and meet all the manufacturers new car warranty programs. Bill

Congratulations on 200,000!!!

I was there on my trusty ol' 90 D250, and even made it to 300,000 before the rear end crumbled into fine metallic powder. She's my farm truck now and my "new" 93 D350 is almost to 150,000.

You may find yourself looking down your nose at the gassers that think they've done something by reaching 100,000. Just because you drive a Cummins, doesn't neccessarily mean you're better than them... . well, yeah it does!!!

Keep on rattlin!!
