Quick question here, stopped by the Dodge dealer today to pick up a fuel filter for my truck and was a bit shocked by the price. They wanted $48 for the filter. Is this price in the right area or is it too high? I want to say that the fuel filter that Geno's Garage has in their catalog that came with my first issue of TDR was only like $14. Is this the same quality filter as the Mopar one and ok to use?

Sorry but just a newbie question I guess. Trying to make every dollar go as far as possible these days.

I use Fleetguard filters and get them from Geno's. You can also get a Wix from your local parts store. They are good filters.

$48 is a total rip-off. It's nothing but a re-labeld Fleetguard. Get them from Geno's. I use a local big rig repair/fleetguard source and pay ~$14. 00.

Fleetguard is a company owned by Cummins, or a division, of Cummins. The makers of the engine, who better to make the appropriate dcision of the proper filter. Run from that dealer and buy 3 filters from Geno's.

Finally made it to the local Cummins dealer here in Nashville and got the filter for $15 from them. Worst part is that its probably the same filter just not in the fancy blue Mopar box.

I buy Hastings filters from a local truck shop. I usually pay $15 for both the oil and the fuel filter. Try anywhere else other than the dealer. There's no way a fuel filter is worth $48.
