I am the owner of a 2007. 5 3500 with the 6. 7 diesel. I was reading Issue 76 of TDR Magazine and saw the article about changing the fuel filter assembly to the Fleetguard FS43257.

On my last filter change at the Dealer it shows a parts charge for a Cartridge & Cannister assembly 27979 and fuel filter element 68061634AA.

Does this indicate the conversion is now complete and I only need to purchase the Fleetguard FS43258 filter element in the future?

Probably since the new design filter shell and element was an upgrade on all trucks a few years ago.

Yes, you have the new updated filter and shell installed by the dealer. These are the same as Fleetguard parts just repackaged by Mopar.

Yes, just buy the Fleetguard element from Geno's for $45. 95 each. (This cost has gone up since the last time I bought them). This is the latest cost that I have from issue 75 catalog. I always buy in quantity of 4 or more filters at a time this way I spread the shipping cost over the filters.

Yes it is a pain to change the fuel filter on a 2007. 5 through a 2009 truck but it is a lot cheaper to do it yourself than for what a dealer will charge you.

Just My $0. 02
