fuel filter question

The filter minder says that I need to change the fuel filters with just 8000 miles on the filters. I'm getting conflicting info from my local dealer, who said with my first change that 15000 miles was fine, but then when I called today with only 8000 miles that I should change it when it says so. If I change it when it says to it will be very expensive over the long run. When I asked if it was something that could be a re-flash computer deal he said no. I'm confused. Please help, thanks Brett

You could just need a flash to update the algorithm for the fuel filters. On my truck, it was decrementing real fast on the fuel filters until they updated my computer. Then it's decrementing in-line with roughly a 15,000 mile duty cycle. Try seeing about getting it updated. On my truck, it also added more life to the filters at the same time.

I took my 2014 in to dealer with 9400 miles for an oil change { free}...Fuel filter life at 2%. They wanted 375.00 to change them. I declined. Bought them at the dealers parts counter, $160.00 !!!! When I got the truck back, they also reset the fuel filter % to 100%. I guess I'll change it at 15k. Still expensive though.....

Genos has the Fuelfilter(s) in Stock for the 1500er.

Cheaper than OEM.

A set from geno's should run right around 100 bucks. 1500's are lucky in that they only have 1 filter and it's like 30 bucks.

if we service the fuel filters ourselves, how do I get the dummy guage to go back to 0%?

When in the fuel filter life screen, push and hold the > key.

Thanks for your help guys. I'll try a different person in the service department to see if we can reflash the computer. In the meantime I guess we''ll reset the gauge. And change the filters at 15000 miles.
