Fuel filter retro-fit

The fuel filter assembly for the 2011 6. 7L appears to be a cannister type as opposed to the spin on filter that my 2007. 5 takes. Can the fuel filter assembly from the 2011 be retro-fitted to the 2007. 5? It would appear that changing the fuel filter on the 2011 would be quicker and easier than on the 2007. 5 because of the new configuration. Would that be an accurate assessment?
