Agree that is weird,I will double check the fit tonight.
What I will say, my filter cap was on very tight (1st change), it took a 1/2 half inch drive socket wrench and as much leverage as I could muster to get it to start turning. I sensed no problem with that socket at all.

This socket has a 3/8 drive. Did you use an adapter to step up to a 1/2?

Ryan a good ol 1 1/8" six point socket is what will do the job. If you want the PERFECT fit a 28MM will work. I prefer 1/2" socket with a 1/2" wobbly, long 1/2" extensions to get above cowel and 1/2" ratchet. Works GREAT!!!

Hey, if it works, great! I will tell you from first had experience, a 1 ⅛" 12 point socket will slip and round off the plastic points. And, your cap will be that tight at every filter change.

On on another note, I changed my filters last weekend and I installed the aluminum cap from Geno's. It is a bit expensive at $80, but it's a lot more user friendly.

hi rynosback

Checked it tonight, it is not so snug after-all. I think it works ok since it is low profile and 6 point. With this said, if I had to do it over again, I think I would opt for the 28mm socket. To your other question, since I was unable to break it free with the 3/8" drive wrench, i did use a 1/2" adapter. In addition, I used a universal joint, and an extension to come in as straight above it as possible. For re-install I used the 3/8" drive torque wrencht. Never mind the strap wrench in the photo, of which I used to remove the water separator over rear axle. I take photos of what I use so next time around I can refer to, it is hell getting old and forgetting stuff.
