I've used a Hastings once and there is probably nothing wrong with the filter itself. I ran out of Fleetguard and Hastings was available. What I didn't like was the fact that when I changed the filter out there is a cork(??)ring that is on the top that is a gasket. This ring came off from fuel soak. That makes me nervous. I'd stay with the Fleetguard.

I am sticking with Fleetgaurd but don't buy from Dodge. The local dealers get $36-$48 for the same filter you can get from Geno's for $15. Changing it is a breeze but be careful with the O-rings. My first change I tore the small O-ring without knowing. After priming, the truck started right up but when I shut it off it would suck air and then would not start. Just be careful. #ad

Wix for 25 years, over 200k combined miles on the Rams. The Fleetgard is probably the same with just different paint and a higher price.

Fleetguard. I haven't tried the Wix. I did put in the new NAPA Gold air filter. It's manufactured by Wix and I like it. It is a heavy made filter with lots of surface area and seems to breathe freely. If the fuel filter is made the same way they it's probably OK. I don't like the sound of cork seals though.

Like they say..... Fleetguard..... You can't go wrong with those.
K-Arts::::: Don't have a clue. I waiting for Amsoil to have a dual-bypass fuel filter. One micron.

www.racor.com makes aftermarket filter setups that work really well. Racor makes really high quality stuff. You could proably find a setup and adapt it to the Ram. They have 1 micron setups too i believe.

Great White, I read the three key flips and your done with prime. Is that with the filter unit pre filled? Is there any bleed port to open?TIA

Racer - I learned my $75 lesson yesterday!!! there is nothing to it but I wanted to be sure so I took it to the local dealer for my first fuel filter change. Watched them do it so I can do it in the future... In my opinion the 2 things to be careful with are the o-ring and not cross threading the cover when you replace it. Otherwise, it is straight forward and I sure as hech ****** away $75 by not just doing it myself in the first place.
