Hey, IV-guy----the P. I. T. A. factor is not the filter, canister, draining, bleeding, or o-ring placement---If your 97 is like my co-worker's truck, it's cakeage--if like mine, the P. I. T. A. coeffiecient is approximately the same as mc-squared----the difference?? brake-line tubing--Kurt's was simple, and left a big arm-reach tunnel underneath the master cylinder and above the few things that are fender-mounted. Mine is a bird-cage with no passage wide enough for canister extraction-- the dis/re-assembly of my unit all took place on the framerail of the truck... I did it 3 times that way, and @ 41k shelled out the 180 bucks for a Primeloc. no more muss/fuss. the best filters (did you hear the sound of a can of worms being opened?) come from Cummins's Fleetgard subsidiary, whether you want to stay "stock" or mildly "b. o. m. b. ed"---yellow pages under heavy duty truck (or words to that effect), or if you're lucky, white pages under Cummins. ---Except for my K&N air filter, and shopshelf generic auto trans filter, I use Fleetgard. ---happy clattering--rich
