Hi,

I have a question about changing my fuel filter. I bought a filter from cummins instead of dodge, saved $. Here's the potential issue, on the instructions that came with the filter it says to align the drain with a header rib. The problem is that the filter doesn't seem to have any indicator of any kind on it that says insert this way (apart from the obvious bottom and top ends). Does it matter which way the filter is pointing when it's inserted? It all looks the same to me.

Thanks,

Clint:confused:

It doesn't matter which way the filter element is dropped in the filter canister on the 99. Make sure the small rubber o-ring on the filter canister threaded area is changed and the other 2 gaskets that come with the new element. What the are referring to is the groove or space in the cannister that lines up with the drain lever detent on the water drain lever. Make sure you fill canister with fuel and after reinstalling turn key on for 15 seconds before you try to start to allow for the lift pump to prime up system. :D
