New to this, so please excuse a dumb question. The fuel filters I received have a plastic cannister. The one on the truck is metal. Anyone know if there is a problem using the plastic one?

First, welcome to TDR. Second, include your signature so that we can know what truck you are talking about. I assume you bought a Fleetguard Filter. 2nd gen have a tin container like an oil filter, 3rd gen are just the filter that go into a canister on the engine. I don't know about the 1st gen.

Apparently it is. Going by the information in the thread TKeeler referenced, it's an entirely different beast.

It is a 6. 7. I wondered because the body of the filter was plastic. It looks like the picture GSBrockman posted. Since the one on the truck had a metal body, I was wondering whether I should replace it with a metal bodied filter. I'll try to figure out how to do a signature. 2007 3500 6 spd manual SLT.

the OE replacement from DC is plastic, and @ under $8 it's cheap enough. Wonder how long before this is discovered, and they become $80 ????

ok sorry, i forgot to add oil between strataport and filters, wondering if my oil filters from an 04. 5 will work for an 07. 5, sorry
