I am running biodiesel in my truck and wanted to use a finer micron fuel filter. Does anyone know what filters will fit and what do I do with the water in fuel sensor. I am also using the primeloc fuel filter relocator. Does anyone make a 5micron or less filter for our trucks that will accept the water in fuel sensor.

Why would you want a filter that removes particles smaller than cummins says is necessary? This will lower the fuel pressure delivered to the VP44.

Jpogue has the P7100, not a VP-44, the truck is 96 model. I think there are quite a few people running bio, with those year models, without issues on the stock filter setup.

I know a lot of people are running on the stock filter and I filter my bio to 1 micron before it goes in the truck. I guess I am just being overly cautious.

Just being overly cautious, that would be an understatment. If you filter to 1 micron before putting it in how would a 5 micron filter ever do any thing unless some kid puts dirt in your tank??

Each time fuel is transferred particles get into it. Be it bugs dirt in the wind you name it. I only transfer twice after the 1 mic filter,to the storage tank, and to my truck. Petro diesel is only filtered to 30 mic before and at the pump and just think of how many times it is transferred before you pump it into your tank. I will try to find the link I read recently,it is a study done by CAT and how diesel is extremely dirty. It is pretty informative.

You are entitled to have the cleanest fuel in the country in your tank, so if it makes you feel better filter away. Just remember as stated above by WestTN excessive filteration will lower the presure and volume at the VP44. Good luck with your search for a better filter.

who said anything about a 24 valve?

Oooops, my bad I didn't look at his sig.

But that doesn't change that 1 micron is overkill.

No need to be confused .
