where do you get good fuel filters for the 07 dodge ram 3500 trucks with the 6. 7 liter diesel engine? please provide names and phone numbers. thanks big white

you are better off adding a filter and never change the stock one. place it in line just in front of the tank. use a gauge to tell when to change the filter

I buy all of my filters from Geno's Garage on line, their web site is genosgarage.com.

I buy the following filters from them: Oil Filter, Fleetguard Stratapore LF16035, $12. 95 each.

Fuel filter; Fleetguard 5 Micron filter FS43258, $34. 95 each.

If you have not changed to the 5 micron filter yet. You will need to buy the shell and filter for the first time then replace just the filter there after. The Fleetguard shell and 5 micron filter part number is FS43257, $48. 95 each.

I also buy my transmission filters and the CCV filter from them also. You can go on line to see every thing they offer.

If you are concerned with keeping your warranty intact Jims advice is the way to go. Not following the maintenance schedule can jeopardize your coverage

it will not jepardize the warranty. things like K&N air filters that can dust a engine in short order justifiably voids a warranty for a dusted engine. your truck needs the better filtration and it also needs a oil bypass filter. you need to delete as fast as you can to get max life out of your 6. 7.

thanks for the pics. by the way do you have any instructions on how to install more fuel filters for the 3500 trucks. i need all the help i can get. thanks

Trust me it does... ... ..... I have seen claims denied due to not following recommended schedule. Also doing away with the factory filter and using aftermarket same result... ... ... .....

I don't argue that adding filtation is a good thing,I am telling you the reality in the 6. 7 world as it exist Today in the Fiat run company

bob no other filter setup is as good as stock. K&N ruined so manny engines cummins has had warnings out for two deckades, afe and others also. chrysler sent warning to dealers that any after market air cleaner or kit found on a truck and wear damage was found to void the warranty. there are a few out there like the S&B that is nearly as good as stock. but there is no way for a dealer to no good from bad. the chance of a wear problem from a good setup is slim to none so they will not be to the dealer. i have seen first hand the damage caused by the aftermarket ones especially the oiled ones and i fully agree with voiding the warranty. the 6. 7 has many problems with oil loading of carbon due to the egr and regen. any delay in recomended schedule oil changes can be a disaster on wear and sludge. the new cj4 oil was formulated to hold up to 7% carbon. that is why i said to do the delets as fast as possible. you can extend oil and engine life by a factor of three by deleting. the dealer in our area understand this and encurage it, they know it reduces warranty problems. we mount the filters just forward of the fuel tank. we run a fleet of dodges and recently installed one on a 06. there is two bolts through the floor board for a rear seat option at this location. some of our trucks use them others do not. get a 2" x 3" piece of angle iron 6" long. make a card board template that the two bolts and keeper nuts will go through hold the template on the inside against the 2" part and drill the two holes they will be about 5/8" i think and about 3 7/8 " between. center the holes on the 2" and near the edge on the 2" hold the angle iron over the bolts with the 3"part the furtherest away from the tank and drill a 1/4" hole between the two holes, keep drilling through the floor board. now after you mount the filters to the angle iron just simply mount it with a 1/4 grade 8 bolt. this is the only hard part the other items is easy. the total time including building the bracket is about 1 1/2 hours. i will give you napa numbers but they can cross reference to wix or car quest. the two bases are 4770 the water separator pre filter is 3374 if you think you must have a drain on the separator use 3406 the 2 micron filter is 3674. use a 3/8" nipple with about 1/2" space in the middle connect the two bases together observing the in and out. because of this the mounting plate on one filter base is about 1" further out than the other. install two 90* 3/8" barbed fittings on the bases and temporary bolt the angle iron up and hold the filters up to it. make sure everything clears and mark the one base that touches the plate to drill the three holes to mount the filters. next cut the feed fuel line at this location and bend the lines out a little and install 3/8 hose over the lines and to the barbed fittings. i put a small amount of flair on the steel lines. but i do not think it is necessary. Bleed the air out through the stock filter before trying to start it. use a gauge and do not change the filters until you see a four pound drop this should be about every 150,000 miles and the stock filter will never need to be changed. Cheapest place is Wix Filter Bases: FleetFilter Secure Online Store

your filter base has two inlets and two outlets on each base be careful to connect the nipple between the outlet of the first filter to the inlet of the second. only one of the bases get's the bolts as the offset places the second base about a inch away from the plate. we use to make spacers on the first ones and then decided they were not needed.

I agree with you that added fuel filtration is good,I have an added filter on mine but not following the schedule or removing the factory filter will adversely affect the warranty

The bean counters run the warranty side not the techs

I have also added additional filtration for my fuel system. I have a 2 micron filter after the main 5 micron filter but before the CP3 pump on my truck. I bought the big line kit from Glacier Diesel Power. Here is a link to the kit part number.

Glacier Diesel Power - Product List

I have photos of the installation in this thread.

How many miles on the truck with the pictures above? If that was the 67,500 cleaning, then I'm doing it at 30,000 miles intervals for the EGR/EGR Cooler/CCV Filter/Grid Heater cleaning(s).

I wonder if yours will be better or worse with the EFI Live?

Pull it let's see

I don't have a lot of miles on EFI. So most of any would be from factory stock. I know from beta testing with the EFI, the factory stock leaves a lot on the table. Including cleaner tune from EFI adding hp.

sorry for getting off subject. place the filter or filters where i show them. the good filters i show are about $11 and hold a lot more dirt than the expensive stock. chang filters by gauge only.

If you are coming down this way anytime soon I will donate the cleaner and egr valve gamers so you can start fresh. Or maybe we can do a DTX express to get it tp you

Sounds like alot of fabbing and drilling when u can buy a xx-fuel filter system and install it in an hour or less... . not a bad price and works nice with the WIF light... .

Bob,

You mentioned that you also run a filter setup other than stock. What are you using? Fuel only and/or fuel/water separater?

I have been thinking about this one for a while now, I have 55k on the truck and this has been something that keeps coming back every time I change the stock filter.
