I am doing gauges soon, and considering a 3-gauge setup (with Autometer's new on-dash pod, pn 15002) with fuel pressure as the 3rd gauge. I plan to read the pressure between the filter and VP44. In the Autometer catalog, it lists a direct-reading gauge (pn 3311), and then one with an isolator (pn 3313). Since diesel doesn't go "KaBOOM!!!" like gas, I think I'd be OK running the direct gauge setup in the cab. The main risk is a fuel leak in the line, which would mean doing a good job on the teflon tape application #ad
. What do you think? Should I spend extra for the isolator setup?

Vaughn,

It boils down to what you feel comfortable with, but I would seriously consider keeping fuel out of the cab. Even though the Auto Meter isolator set-up is quite pricey, it's a trick set-up.
