I filled the truck yesterday and went to work. The only place to park was on a very steep side hill and when I left the gauge went to empty and the low fuel light came on. I don't know if there is any correlation to the steep side hill scenario or if the gauge just decided to crap ou then. Where would guys suggest I start. I don't want to pull the tank or bed till spring so now I am setting the trip odometer so I don't go dry. Any ideas. Thanks.

It sounds like maybe your in-tank float stuck.

I think I would just keep driving it and maybe when the fuel gets down 1/2 to 1/4 tank the wave action will free it up.

If your tank was full and this happened, I doubt your float got stuck at the bottom. It would have hung at the top unless the float came off completely. Sounds like something electrical, maybe the connector on top of the tank or the contacts on the sender in the tank. It's probably inside the tank. Oh well, fill up early and often. When you get ready to fix it, definitely pull the bed.

Thanks, I will take a look the first warm day. I put a flatbed on it and can see in there to some extent. If not its only six or eight bolts and its off. I had a broken wire on the sender on my 91 and I soldered it. The bracket that held the float was cracked and swimming free in the tank. This could be similar, we'll see, Thanks
