on my 94 diesel after i fill it all the way. the gauge reads full i zero out the miles and it stays full about 75 miles the it slowly goes down th3/4 then about a total of 100miles it goes to 1/4 then about 50 more miles below empty. i have heard these 2nd gen trucks have simaler problems. i have a 94 parts truck , with a gas motor . will the unit work in mine or do i have to get a diesel one?also what does this sound like is wrong?the float or gauge?could it be a ground or something else?i am changing the box and while i got it apart i would like to fix it. thanks

I had issues with mine , but after a few tanks of b35 [ 1/3 bio-diesel + 2/3 #2 ] the gauge became more relyable .
Bio is such a good fuel system cleaner , that its the only fuel system cleaner that required you to carry 1-3 fuel filters , because they plug up from the cleaning .

The float is deteriorating. Those are the symptoms. I had to change mine. There is a thread in this category. Take a look.

Every one I know with a 94-95 had a failure of the fuel gauge One fellow change 3x. I decided to just use the odometer. My gauge started to work if I got the tank down to the last 5 gal. I complained to Chrysler. A lot of good that did.

my 96 was doing that when i got it, i cleaned and tweaked on the tank sender and here we are about a year and a half and 17k miles later it's still going good
