Fuel gauge

I have an 03 HO and the fuel gauge will not come off the fuel mark until about 150 miles. When the gauge reads 1/4 tank it takes 32 to 32. 5 gals to fill. They put a new lift pump in the tank and it still reads the same. They said when they a new lift pump in it had a new sending unit on it. Any ideas. Thanks.

..... float sticking perhaps???... . my gauge quit on my '01... . turned out,the float had fallen off!!!!... ... ... ... ... i had a new sending unit,but i just put the new float on and all was okay!!!... ... ... ... tom

Tom they put a new tank unit in and nothing changed.

The arm that holds the float in my 2005 is made of a thick wire or rod.



The arm on your sending unit could have been bent when the unit was removed from the tank. You could drop the tank and remove the sending unit and check it with an ohm meter. With the ohm meter connected to the unit move the arm and see when the resistance is the least and the greatest. Using these readings from the ohm meter you may be able to bend the arm and get more accurate readings on your fuel gauge.
