2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission fuel guage & chime

ok... we all know of this darn problem in these trucks and my fuel guage goes crazy most of the time and the damn chime is irritating the hell out of me..... i was wondering were can i disable this chime???is it the same as the door chime??plez... . it is killing me. thanx for any help

well the door chime can be disabled at the dealer i believe (this is done for people who leave there doors open alot ie: police/fire vehicles) just like the open door dome light disable feature. I am assuming it involves reprogramming the PCM to disable this feature since it controls the instrument cluster. Or you could just locate and remove the relay box under the bolster panel dissect it and remove the speaker then put it all back together and reinstall it.

Hey, My 98 REGULAR VALVED Truck does the same thing, and after 2 years, you learn to tune it out! I dont even hear it anymore, and what annoys me the most, is when people tell me that I am out of gas. Now Who the hell is driving this rig?? That's what I thought. Get in, Sit Down, Shut Up, hold on, and Enjoy the damn scenery!

it definitely is living life on the edge as far as fuel mileage goes and it has almost burned me a few times... but right now i want to get rid of the chime and then get the sensor replaced shortly...
