When I changed the fuel filter last week on my 89 I noticed the wire connection going to the fuel heater was not hooked up and was just hanging there. I bought the truck used by the way, and have only had it about a month.

I looked and found the whole fuel heater assembly was rotated to where the socket for the connection was right smack up against the side of the block making it impossible to connect the wires.

So I loosened the adapter that fastens the heater assy. to the head and rotated it to where I could make the connection (about 90 deg. )

That worked , now it's weeping just a tad bit of fuel. Not much, the truck starts fine. Is there a replacement gasket or some type of sealer that should be used to seal the heater to the head? I ordered the parts manual from Cummins but have not received it yet. Any help here is good.

Ahhh Yes!

Saw it there under frequently used part nos.

I'll order one from mother Cummins. I wouldn't think Geno's would stock this.

Thanks bmoeller:)

There is a gasket on the top and bottom of the heater element. The bottom one can be purchased with a fuel strainer kit (about $8 for the kit).
