I removed mine. It was bad and is sitting in my little collection of bad parts. You need a 17mm socket and a 10mm allen wrench. Remove the pre-filter from the bottom with the 17mm socket. Use an extension and a U-joint to keep from getting a small bath of fuel. When the pre-filter is removed you will see a large shiny screw. The 10mm allen wrench fitts the middle of it. Remove it to remove the fuel heater. It's the black hockey puck looking thing. You will have to unplug it from the wires. Put the fuel heater, one of the big O-rings, and the shiny screw to one side. The shiny screw is just an adapter so the pre-filter will screw right up in the place of the fuel heater. Should take only a few minutes. There is a short wiring harness for the fuel heater. Best to unplug it from the truck wireing so it won't flop around.
