A few days ago I was looking under the hood and spotted a loose wire coming from the top of the fuel heater. I took a hold of the other wire next to it and it came loose in my hands. Upon further investigation I found a blob of burnt carbon where the fuel sensor was supposed to be. Not having a place to work on the truck and besides being mechanically challenged I took a trip over to Rip Rook's Source Automotive Shop. The sensor part was not readily available (Fleetguard 3843722S) so I decided to replace the sensor with an external switch. The switch is mounted handily under the hood so now when the temperature cools down to 35 or 40 F I can switch on to preheat the fuel. Seems to be working like a champ. Thought I would post this in case anyone else has this problem and might be interested in a solution other than a new sensor (about $50) or a new heater unit from Dodge (About $250). Regards to all, Lynn.
