Haven't heard any complaints lately on fuel in oil dilution. Is this because everyone is now changing their oil every 3K miles or sooner to keep this from happening. Just curious. I would guess this is the case and just go by what the truck tells you to do. :-{}

If the problem ever existed it was probably corrected in the '07. 5 and '08s with several minor ECM programming changes that were provided by reflashes done by Dodge dealers when sooting issues occurred.

You don't see it quite as much now as before because of all the software updates to improve the regeneration process. The ones that do tend to be related to short trip duty cycle.

I guess I am trying to reassure myself that I still want to buy another Dodge Cummins. After reading so much negative stuff about the dpf and nox regenerations, and fuel dilution, etc, it kind of put me off of even thinking about another diesel truck. Ever since my 97, that I had so long and enjoyed pulling my camper with, I know I wouldn't be happy with anything else but the Dodge. And, I know for a fact that I will not get a gasser to pull my camper with. I went through that route once and I will NOT do that again. Regardless of what anyone says, gassers just don't have what it takes to hold up to that job. So, when I leave this year from overseas, I will order my new Dodge. I guess I probably made up my mind now. I don't think I would be happy with a Ford or GM. Someone on this forum told me that a while back. :-{}

TDickerson,

If you use the new truck as it was intended it will perform great and be a pleasure to you. They are great for towing and hard use.

It's the trucks used only for daily short commutes and errands that have been likely to have issues.
