Im pretty sure I have an injector that took a crap on me. Truck started running funny, kind of sputtering like a fuel line was loose. I pulled over right away and shut her down. I checked the oil level and it is about an inch and a half above the full mark, and my entire undercarrige is covered in fuel/oil.

Truck is going to my diesel mechanic tomorrow, what would be the best case/worst case sernarios of what he will find? I am a little worried here.

You're covered under warranty to 100,000 miles. They make the repair and change the oil, and your good to go. I don't see a worst case for you.
Cheers

Should have posted my mileage, sorry. 53k on the ticker. I kind of doubt they will warranty the truck, it has an intake, exhuast, and a Quadzilla module (don't remember which model but it has a 3 position switch for 30-60-90hp. ) The module has been on there for 15k or so and I leave it in the 60hp setting. I dont tow very much and I don't run it hard.

My hope is that I can just replace the injectors with performance ones, change the oil and be good to go. I tend to steer clear of the dealer as much as I can, but if it turns out that there is more damage I will take it in and see if they will cover it.

I guess my main question is that if fuel gets past the piston into the crankcase, is that a dead giveaway that I am going to be shelling out a lot of $ or is it possible that I could be changing injectors and being on my way.

That would be true if you drove the truck like this for a long period of time. If not they are just going to replace the injectors.

My 06 with 35,000 miles blew 1 injector all to h#ll and three others were leaking. My high pressure fuel valve failed and did not return excess fuel to tank. Same deal as you but my dipstick showed oil about 6" above the full mark. They towed it to dealer and replaced all injectors and all lines... . failed valve too. No charge. Now with about 4000 miles on engine since this event, I had to add 1 qrt of oil..... never used oil before. I guess my thinned out engine oil didn't prevent excess wear on parts. To be fair, Cummins should install brand new engine... . their failed part put excess wear on my engine. That will never happen!

yeah same thing happened to me four injectors leaking so bad could not test and other two just leakin sent them to f1 to get rebuilt and put the flux 1's don found some aluminium melted on on the #1 injector so figuring piston is in beginning stages of melting trying ti figure out what im gonna do before going beck together with it took it to dealer doesnt want to warranty it because i had banks kit on it so i got shell it out myself if ur injectors just went out id fix it right away to avaid mor damage to ur motor#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!

I'd take it in and see if they would cover it. I was in the local Dodge/Chevy dealership the other day and they have a HUGE sign in their parts/service area that says they will install running boards, rear seat dvd players, aftermarket exhaust, cold air kits, PERFORMANCE MODULES!!!... etc...

If they are willing to install it at the dealership, they can't HIDE from warranting it!.

Up-rating an engine within reason should not void a warranty. I've turned a Cat 3412E from 720hp. to 860 hp. with no ill effects. This particular engine actually has to pull ALL 860 hp. for 14 hours a day in the heat of the Texas summer.

Not sure how good your local dealership is, but I would DEFINETELY take it in and argue until I was blue in the face for them to cover it under warranty.

Cracked injector body lead to fuel in crankcase. Toasted the rod bearings. I am convinced after reading many posts that the injectors on these trucks are the weak link, and cant handle pressure boxes. Anybody looking for an 05 with a fresh bottom end??? I will almost give it away at this point or trade for a 12v.

Did you repair it or the dealer? What did the bearings look like? I find it very unlikely that with the oil level 1" over full and you stopping it immediately there would have been damage to the bearings. Also, what does the crank look like? If it is not scored you are looking at a fairly minor repair to put a set of bearings in it.
