just received my monitor oil report and fuel in oil flagged @ 5. 8%. 2007. 5 6. 7 stock with 22000k miles what is the problem? leaking injector or what? danger/engine damage?

under warenty, diluted oil, any metals come up, if no metals came up, you will only find wear damage with out a complete break down.

How many miles on the oil when sampled? My truck was pushing 4-5% fuel in oil before I neutered its emissions crap so it would stop regening and dumping fuel into the crankcase. Cummins said its ok still at that %, I said bull! and fixed it myself.

colesmoke

on an extended trip towing my fifthwheel gcvw 24K lbs about 8K on oil. still seems excessive to me. what do you think

thanx

Marc, Cummins says that is allowable, but it doesn't sit right with me. I was seeing similar fuel in oil numbers as you at that mileage. When I had that much fuel in my oil, my oil analysis company told me to get it fixed pronto as it was thinning the viscosity of the oil down to a 30wt oil. 0. 5% - 1% is ok by me, but that's about it. Dodge did their best but couldn't resolve the issue, but huge props to the dealership for taking the truck in a couple of times and trying to sort it all out. I firmly believe that the problem lies in the fact that the DPF regeneration software dumps fuel in too late in the combustion cycle and therefor the cylinder walls are being washed down with unburnt fuel which consequently enters the crankcase. This post cycle fuel is needed to complete the regeneration cycle, but its not helping the rest of the engine any.

I am having the same problem, the oil on the 6. 7 is diluted with fuel , I tried to stretch out this oil change to 9000 as i thought the bypass filter would help more (FS2500) i doubt there is much benifit to this setup, it just costs more to buy an extra filter, if my oil change intervals are shortened by fueling the crankcase,

metals were acceptable according to the sample .

The oil level on the stick was at the top of the plastic to cable marker with only 22,000 total on the motor , I will shorten the change interval and watch to see if it climbs dramically on the stick again. my oil sample said could be injectors or i beleve it is the emissions as written above . I need my warranty for now but would love to delete all the problematic hardware just so it doesnt throw codes . Just got the new turbo and all TSBS are current now runs good for the time being

oil sample said 9. 0 % critical dilution rate watching it a lot closer

wish i could afford to junk the emissions crap and run the straight 4" 5. 9 pipes and fool the computer bypass the EGR system etc . The engine would like me more.
