Just sent in my first oil sample to Blackstone and here are the results:

My question is how am I getting so much fuel in the oil, have my rings not seated yet after 16,800 miles, or have I got something more serious going on?

There is always a little fuel in the oil. With a flash point of 390, you don't have much. About the only source on this engine is a fuel nozzel that leaks a little or a injector tube leak into the overhead. Take another sample in a few hundred miles and monitor what's happening.
 
Blow by past the rings, plus you have a PE EZ... adding more fuel this way as well, or are you on the timing program only? At any rate, do as he said and keep an eye on it. When you risk getting fuel in the oil, best to run a real good oil, change it a little sooner than normal. Most of all, use only the BEST fuel you can find. Lower grades of fuel have higher sulfer contents, and the higher sulfer mixes with the water in the combustion procees, which then mixes with the oil to create a very corrosive sulfuric acid mix that breaks the oil down real fast.



Dont know what your schedule is, but I wouldnt be afraid to change it every 3000 miles or sooner if you want for just a while. I changed my oil/filter and fuel filter every 3000 miles for the first 21,000. Then I upped everything to 4000 miles after that. No oil or fuel problems yet.
 
Looks like your injectors are stock but you still could have a leak at the connector tube/injector interface. This will dump fuel straight into your oil. If it was significant though, you'd see peformance issues also. I'm not that familiar with what's expected for the oil analysis but it's just a thought.

Chad, based on what you said about the sulfer, just a hypothetical question: If we were to run farm diesel in our trucks, the oil would need to be changed fairly often I suppose?
 
probably not his problem

but another source for fuel in the oil, is the front seal on the VP44. its inside the timing cover and has been rumored to withstand as little as twenty PSI before starting to leak. which will wash down your oil.
 
Depends on the state. Here in mine, the only dif is price and red dye. Some states use lower grade, higher sulfer fuel for non taxed fuel, but not many.

By any chance do you idle it alot..... say for several minutes at a time or longer? If so, you may be experiencing wash-down from unburned fuel. Just a thought.
