I have a 98 1/2 24 vavle engine. Just had the transfer lift pump replaced with the new retro fit kit in the tank. How can I tell if the fuel injection pump is going? Every once in awhile I have a strange noise. It sounds like bells ringing or vibration of some sort like something is loose or rattling. It only last for a few seconds. Does the fuel injection pump usually go after you change the lift pump.

Should i also install a FASS system? The truck only has 66,000 on it.

Gee, there's a rattling noise from the engine bay??:-laf :-laf

The noises and bells could be anything, if not normal sounds you hear. From under the hood or in the cab? The throttle cable makes a tinny ringing noise while in cruise controll, theres a TSB around here on the parts you can buy to make that go away.

The VP44 typicaly lets you know its "going" by, well, not working. Hard starts, engine lite/codes, possibly even the "dead pedal" syndrome. It might even just stop with no warning at all.

Kinda makes you wish you had a P7100 hangin up there, huh??

A FASS couldnt hurt. Its certainly more reliable than the stock LP, especially if you plan on operating at a "high rate of fuel consumption"... ...
