F.A.S.S. and my 12-valve

Jim Andersons "Old Wives Tales" in TDR issue 44, I agree with the first part. I disagree with the last.

With or without the reducing of sulfur, I think the use of a fuel system cleaner and lubricant makes things run a lot better. Amsoil's Diesel Fuel Modifier does both, it is cheap to use as 1 oz per 5 gallons of fuel is all that is necessary. It keeps my Cummins running smooth and gives me a little better mileage. It also preseves the life of the fuel pump.

Keeps those injectors clean all the time. I have been using it all the time for many years, and it works as advertised.

I use Stanadyne Performance Formula now. I was usuing Amsoil. Between these two I don't see much difference. With the Stanadyne I get several tenths better mpg. I read somwhere that Amsoils additive is made by Stanadyne just blended to there specs--don't know if this is true. Started useing the Stanadyne in 91 and went to Amsoil in 95 used it for several years and back with Stanadyne now. I even noticed a little mpg improvement in the VW with the Stanadyne.
