finnaly got the KDP fixed. The truck started right up and ran great. Went to take it for a test drive and i got a mile down the road running 55mph when the truck decided to shut off on me. It will not start backup. The fuel celinoid comes up. the only thing i can think of is the fuel pump. Thanks

The injection pump is the last thing to consider. The lift pump is the next to the last thing to consider. Do you know what your fuel pressure is? There are quite a few things that could have failed to cause your problem. Email me at -- email address removed -- for my fuel supply system write up, how it works and how to fix it.

Not to doubt you, but have you checked the volume of fuel in the tank? With that many miles, its very possible your gauge sender is bad. Could be a dry tank causing this.

In the same vein, you could also have some trash in the tank that either clogged the fuel pickup, or made its way to the prefilter and clogged it there. . Whats the age of the fuel filter? If in doubt, change it out.

good luck

It's NOT a good idea to change the filter if you have a fuel problem unless you KNOW that it is bad. It's easy to check. Loosen the input fitting to the filter. Check fuel flow there. If it is good, then do the same with the output fitting. If it is bad there, change the filter. The reason you don't want to change the filter "just in case" is that if you have an air leak you will add the problem of filling the filter to the problem you already have. That can really complicate the situation.

my fuel sending unit is bad but there are no fuel leakes and i have got 300 miles on the tank of fuel and usually get 600. i will check the filters though. i have no idea how old they are but im sure there old. i just got the truck so the kdp was the first fix i did to it. Thanks for the info i will be emailing you to so check it out. THe address is lmherriman so you will see it.

You can't see an air leak. They are the hardest to find because of that. The lift pump does not pump air very well to say the least.
