Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Droping Fuel Pressure

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) A/C Problem!!

Completed my FASS install today to correct low FP issues. Works like a charm 16 psi at idle and 12 psi WOT. The only issue some fuel dripping off the bell housing. Looks like it is coming from some where above starter. Everthing that I plumbed is dry. The only thing I can figure that since I hooked up the FASS to the old fuel filter inlet and left the old high pressure side of off the old lift pump dangling. Where does the fuel from the fuel drain manifold go? Is it coming back through the lift pump and soaking the back of the engine?

How much fuel is there? Could it just be residual fuel from the old LP (which is directly above the starter)? or the old fuel line? Mine did something similar for about a day after I installed my FASS. I then blew out the old lines with air and plugged the outlet side of the old LP and its been bone dry for 3 years. You would be amazed at how much fuel can be held in the lines and LP.

I think that the fuel return lines run from the back of the block to a Tee fitting that if bumped can leak, maybe thats it. Or the overflow from the VP, which I think opens at 14psi and returns fuel to the tank through the return line. Maybe your stock pump was not strong enough to open the overflow but the FASS is. Maybe dry rotted return line?

Could be any of these, but if you dont think you bumped anything I would look at the residual fuel in the LP and stock fuel line

Just a thought/hope this helps

there is a rubber line thats a fuel return from the fuel rail on the back side of the cylinder head which cracks and leaks simple fix. just use push lock hose instead of rubber fuel line.

After I installed mine, I had some trouble with the fitting on The back side of the stock filter housing leaking. I had to nearly stand on my head to see the leak, but it was there.
