Ok... . I need some help... . I changed my fuel filter a few days a go in my 97, and noticed the next morning that a puddle of fuel was on the driveway. It was very hard to start (like there was air in the line, and there probably was). There is no visible leak that I can find and the truck runs fine. Yesterday, I removed the filter canister and reinstalled it. Then bled the lines again. Once again, no visible leaks. This morning there was another puddle of fuel on the driveway.

I am now a little puzzled. I plan on installing another filter with the 3 O rings, and trying again. I have one fear, and that is when I had the filter canister off to clean it, I used a harsher chemical than I normally would and fear that I may have damaged something in the drain valve in the canister, since the canister seems to partially empty itself overnight.

I am just assuming that it is coming from the filter, because it happened right after the filter change.

Please help!!!

I think you're on the right track, my first guess would also be the drain valve. The other common leak point on the filter is the o-ring seats, just a chip of paint or other debris on them can cause a leak. You don't always have to have fuel leaking out to have air leaking in.

Off the subject, do you have your KDP contained? My experence is that '97s have the most problem with it coming out.

kdp and fuel filter relocation

I sure do have the KDP contained... . mine was near coming out. Jessup took care of that one for me!

I am now thinking about the filter relocation kit from Geno's, anyone have any opinions about it, or another. It would probaby fix the problem I have now and make my very frequent fuel filter changes much easier.

I have the same truck you have. I had a fuel filter by-pass from Geno's installed about a year ago. I've never had any problem with it. Also, I still haven't changed the filter yet. It looks like it would be very easy. I've never had any trouble starting or idling so I still haven't changed it yet.

Maybe to late

MBurke,

When I had a CTD 12v I had a few changes it took a couple of tries to get the canister and the big o ring lined up. Put the filter in the canister and install the fuel soaked big o ring around the filter at the top of the canister, this seals it. Put it up to the head push it up and on starting the nut on top by hand, pushing straight up. Good luck
