the other day after changing out a leaking transmission line I noticed a small diesel leak. Looks to be coming out of the fitting circled, the return line? Tried to take the fitting off and couldn't get it, although I didn't try real hard. What are my options here get another solid line? Replace with rubber line? leak was coming form line circled in red.

update:leak has gotten worse and appears to be leaking form the lift pump on the filter housing. I took the lift pump off to get better access to that line and it appears to be leaking pretty good now from it, it is running down the pump and dripping off of it. Is there a o ring that is messed up on the lift pump? felt something rubber inside of the filter housing where the lift pump attaches to it, tried to pull it out and couldn't. Next plan was to take it apart again and take the filter out and look in there to see if there is an o-ring that isn't sealing up correct. If that is the case does anyone know what size o-ring it would be? or if it needs to be a special one? Picture was taken when it was just leaking out of the line, it has since gotten much worse. Thanks, Marc.

The o-rings should be easy to find at a parts store. You need to figure out where exactly it's coming from. 2 bolts take the pump off, and you could check it out. It could be where the pump seals to the housing, the fuel filter housing cap o-ring, or one of those quick connect fittings, they have a oring inside the femal end.

I took all 4 bolts out to take that pump off. Does it split in two in the center there? Because that almost is what looks where it is leaking from because the top of the pump really isn't wet like it is coming out of the where it attaches to the filter housing. It didn't start to leak real bad until a few days after I first took it off. Until then it was just leaving about a half dollar sized spot under the driver control arm where it was running down from that line. Now with it leaking at the lift pump it is a steady leak. Thanks for your reply.

Check the fuel filter cap tightness first

Just a thought. -----> Several folks here have had the apparent same leak and discovered it just to be the cap on the top of the fuel filter housing to be not completely tight. Just my 2 cents.

:)

update: The major leak was coming from the o-ring not being set correctly by myself on the lift pump. Now it no longer leaks like crazy just a few drips coming from that line circled. Where does that line go to up in the engine? Could I cut it back off from that end and just run a rubber line instead?
