There is a T in the return fuel line near the back of the motor that has given me fits over the last two years. I replaced the rubber washers, I think cummins calls them grommets myself and had a repair shop do the same and it still leaks. I think they might have over tightened them and they replaced the T. What I want to try next is to replace the metal T with a plastic one and use fuel line hose and clamps. Does this sound like a good idea or should I go to the dealer? What kind of pressure are we looking at in this return line?DWest

I would think plastic is not a good idea. Heat, vibration I think would not bod will for long lasting T. Call me old fashioned but if I have a choice will always stick to metal over plastic.

I have been into that T. NOTHING special, just a T. I would use metal, but there is zero pressure going through those lines. I cut the entire return OEM lines off just after the T output line and put in AN-6 lines all the way back to the tank. The VP44 adds about 40* to the input fuel temp (at high rpm and heavy load) and that temp goes through that T, typically OAT+10* (tank temp) +40* from the VP44 so about 150* or so.

OEM is not fuel line and hose clamps because it probably would have been a crash test issue and it would look funny, but would work really well. Mine does.
