Neighbor has a fuel leak on the left side of his 07 5.9 and am wondering best place to look. The truck has lost it's prime and fuel under truck, and drips slowly when turned over. It might be a fitting on the rail, there is tell tail sign of fuel on #2 on the rail nut. I am guessing high pressure has sent fuel all over in the immediate area, and also wondering if there is a primer button, other than turning the key on to activate the fuel pump. It goers about 1 1/2 seconds, and off. No codes, the key trick says DONE and the check engine light flashes 10 times, then quites. So what do you guys suggest? where to go.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Maybe this should have go to the 911 but its my neighbors truck, and its cold outside.

All the fuel is on the left side so that doesn't narrow it down much.

If you bump the starter it should run the fuel pump for approx 30 seconds and may help you find a leak.

If it's lost it's prime I'd suspect it's a leak on the low pressure side.

High pressure line issues are normally #4 injector line. If truck will start look for spray there.

That we did and its the #4 on the injector side. Squirted from under the nut, and beside the tube. Do they usually leak like this? and whats the procedure for getting it right? Do they crack on the end of the tube?

you need to replace the line. the support bracket clamp gets loose which allows the line to vibrate and crack. Buy the line from Cummins or Geno's, either are a 1/4 to a 1/5 of dodge price.

Thanks for your come-back, He went to the dealer and paid $60 for it, needed it done, and its running Ok now, told him about Geno's for got to mention Cummins
Why does #4 always do this?

your new line should have a different style clamp that doesn't have the issue. short answer is resonate frequency of line match the motor running around 2k so it causes the clamp to loosen. Once clamp is loose line flexes its self to death. Pressure box like Edge EZ hasten the demise. There is a 50 page thread on Cummins forum complaining about.
